Re: Reason Studios 13 or 14 (Future Talk)
Personally, I think v13 is going to be a fairly substantial sequencer update. How much it's going to inch it towards the competition is the only thing that up in the air to me. I cannot imagine them not going in that direction for the next (upcoming) release. While the Rack is nice for users who wan...

Re: SuperBooth 2023 Confession - Reason is for starting an idea
The writing has been on the wall for years RS is going back to focusing on being an instrument in a DAW instead of improving as a DAW. They end game is to create so many unique instruments that competes with Native Instruments Komplete price point $599. RRP is the future. I have to wonder though, i...

Good they got this out. Don't think I will reinstall it, though. Uses too much storage and you cannot move these heavy rack extensions to external storage...
Which basically forced me to replace most of the stuff I'd use via the RRP with discrete VSTs that have sane installation strategies.

Re: Why is Reason Lacking in so many popular DAW lists for 3rd party products
Within the 5 min and 45 sec did he say "Reason"? Maybe I missed it while he was going through the list of supported DAWs. Scalar seems to work fine in Reason for me. You can't use Scaler 2 to drive other Instruments in Reason 12, so you're limited to dragging and dropping MIDI out of Scaler 2 and o...

Re: Reason Studios 13 or 14 (Future Talk)
💯, we've got it really good as music makers. And you can get all the sounds you'll ever need to make chart hits for $10 on Plugin Boutique. Few can remember that Pro Tools offered the first free DAW back in the 90s. Unfortunately it was the most unstable software I've ever seen. It got loads of bad...

Re: Voluntary group for DAW improvements
A most excellent suggestion, I second this. Of course, Pooh Bear has been doing this for years for the nektar controllers ( and such a good job too). It's fine if you use a Nektar Controller - like a Panorama - with a larger screen that tells you what is mapped to what. For using other controllers ...

Hey, I understand that a company has limited financially and personal capabilities, so, what do you think about some voluntarily group, which might help closing the gap to a better DAW for some months? Good idea, stupid idea? The group or the persons could do graphics, code or concept work - all co...

Re: Why is Reason Lacking in so many popular DAW lists for 3rd party products
Today after decades I think Reason is a really really amazing tool. The Marketing department should fire off some people IMO but the app itself is amazing. I actually never wanted a change in the sequencer. I can make amazing music in it. Amazing for myself haha Sequencer changes are selfless asks ...

Re: Why is Reason Lacking in so many popular DAW lists for 3rd party products
Even if Reason is behind on sequencer features which just makes it different and admittedly off putting to many, that should not stop the staff at Reason Studios from reaching out and networking with 3rd party companies. Reason may not have all the bells and whistles as other DAWs but it is still p...

Re: Why is Reason Lacking in so many popular DAW lists for 3rd party products
I only use Reason DAW. And to me it's just a matter of marketing and product placement (like pretty much everything these days) What makes the difference in the sales of one DAW over another is not the established producers or hobbyists who know their business or even famous artists: it is the kids...

Re: Why is Reason Lacking in so many popular DAW lists for 3rd party products
Because developers aren't testing on it specifically, so they aren't going to mention it. The user base is probably too small for them to bother investing the resources to do so. Developers will only list the DAWs that they actually test their product in. They won't just list random DAWs only to dea...

Re: Interest over time
The DAW market is flooded with so many plugins, samples, these days that only newer stuff gets more interest. It's the nature of the beast. It's also the fact that the DAW Market now has fairly entrenched options that are professional quality products as hobbyist prices - if not outright free. It's...

Re: Interest over time
All DAW makers should be concerned… this is the trend for “DAWless”: 2DFC441C-F93F-4E38-A2D4-CA1FEC714F0B.jpeg Yea, but that is proportional to the amount of interest it had before, which was probably very small... so the huge ramp in the interest is probably correct, but the correlation to the num...

Re: Reason rack anyone ?
It's the only way I use Reason.
Other DAWs are better to too great an extent in the other areas.
If I were just a beatmaker, I'd probably use Reason for everything, though. It's a nice workflow for that kind of stuff, and has enough features without feeling overwhelming for that market segment.

Re: Beyond Europa?
It sounds... like a synth. with robotic vibrato and pretty obviously generated note attacks, etc. This is what I'm talking about. It's much easier to synthesize those other types of sounds. There is a reason why this area is not nearly as explored, while the other instrument types were modeled fair...

Re: R12, 16 months on, ... how are you all finding it?
The sequencer is still annoyingly clunky/tedious to use. Only a handful of the recent instruments/features have been remotely interesting to me. But I still like the overall environment better than the alternatives, despite now owning Studio One 5 and Bitwig. Just wish they would focus on improving...

Re: Laptops Without Numeric Keypad
As laptops don't all have that many usb ports, you might also want a usb-hub then. A powered hub may be needed, depending on how many peripherals you use and their power draw. You should never plug an audio interface through a passive USB Hub, and certainly not if you have other peripherals plugged...

Re: Studio One Reason and Chord Sequencer
Put only the player in the rack and then route the midi from that instrument track to the instrument track with Spitfire Strings.
Basically, you use it the same way you'd use a plug-in like Scaler 2.
This works in Studio One 6 Professional (Windows 11). I JUST checked it.

Re: SD3 saying Reason can't use plug-ins that use multiple cores
You should never have multi-core toggled on in plug-ins. Always turn it off and allow the DAW to handle that. The multi-core setting only matters when running standalone plug-ins. Generally, it is not recommended to use it when hosted in a sequencer. Most products will default to this turned off, fo...

Re: Beyond Europa?
Beyond europa for me would be a synth with more lfo's and envelopes/mseg. Europa is a great synth but wish rs added more as sometimes I run out. It could be a europa 2 with these added and I would be very happy. I think RS could benefit a lot from focusing on the core Sequencer and actually updatin...

Brass and Woodwinds are both basically wind instruments. You can't easily physically model them. That's why Strings, Pluck and Percussion are usually what are physically modeled... Violin/Cello/Viola/Bass, Pianos, Drums, Harp, etc. It's a bit harder to "physically model" air blowing through an inst...
