Re: Master Fader in Ableton Live
I really fail to understand the issue here... I guess you just discovered that different DAW's work in different ways? Sorry if this sounds harsh but seriously... The master channel on Live is just that: the channel where everything "leaves" the DAW and because it's a channel like any other it work...

Re: Master Fader in Ableton Live
Curious where you measured it - some DAWs such as Pro Tools have master inserts post fader so mastering inserts are the last process in the signal path. Lowering the fader in that case would affect the processing but may not have much effect on the final output depending on the processing in use. I...

Master Fader in Ableton Live
Hi, I wanted to share something because it has caused me some headaches myself. While composing, I usually don't care much about clipping because it doesn't matter when working "in the box". When I want to export later, I usually just pull the master fader down a few db so that it doesn't get above ...

Re: I can't even.. upgraded from R7 to R12. Overwhelmed but happy!
First of all - welcome to Reasontalk! There's quite a few expats from the old Propellerhead User Forum here, but a ton of new users like yourself as well. Thankfully, the world has changed a lot since you first picked up version 1, and Youtube is now a veritable free goldmine of tutorials. If you'r...

Re: Youtuber tries Reason 12 for the first time and tries to make acid techno
He made a video a few weeks ago in which he explained that beginners are often overwhelmed with the settings of the synthesizers in Ableton and he therefore recommends to orient yourself on hardware synths to find out which buttons are really important. I commented that you could also just use Reaso...

Re: Interview with Ernst Nathorst-Böös 2003 - everything has happened as predicted
I think one problem with all this discussion is that we all make music at very different "levels". Accordingly, the expectations of a DAW are also different. For me, for example, the sequencer features in Reason are absolutely sufficient. I am rather overwhelmed with more. Maybe in the future we hav...

Re: Interview with Ernst Nathorst-Böös 2003 - everything has happened as predicted
I find, for example, that most of the demands concerning the sequencer have been implemented. Just not in the sequencer itself but via the Drum Sequencer, Scales and Chord and the Poly Step Sequencer. But somehow this was not understood by many. Alot of people would disagree i think. And even if tr...

Re: Interview with Ernst Nathorst-Böös 2003 - everything has happened as predicted
Yeah makes you wonder if they had just stuck to the rack, focused on just making the rack the best experience it can be, and then offered the rack as a plugin and never pursued the other things, would we be free of all the expectations and haters today? In a way, they have always focused mainly on ...

Re: Interview with Ernst Nathorst-Böös 2003 - everything has happened as predicted
It is fascinating to see that the implementation of the required features has led to exactly the dissatisfaction Ernst predicted. Relative to today, you can't really blame the props for focusing on the Rack. Apparently, this is actually a throwback. Ernst never wanted to create the best DAW or the b...

Interview with Ernst Nathorst-Böös 2003 - everything has happened as predicted
I recently came across an old "soundonsound" interview from 2003. It is quite interesting to read the attitude of the props at that time to the topics VST, audio etc.. Sometimes I wonder if it would not have been better if they had held on to the old ideals. Basically, everything has happened as Ern...

Scales and Chords
At the risk of being the only one who did not know this, I would like to share the following insight. As soon as I have inserted a scales and chords device, the note correction also affects drawn notes in the sequencer track. So if I draw a wrong note in the piano roll, Reason still plays the correc...

Re: Frequency Question
The first thing is to make a rumble kick ...what is this trend and obsession with "rumble kick" ? Totally overused and spammed in every production and nowadays it won't give any personality to your track. Be more creative and try to create some different basslines, separate yourself from the mass. ...

Re: Frequency Question
1) Scream 4 is very suitable in distortion mode. But so is the old D-11 Foldback Distortion. I also like to use the Saturation Knob. Is free in the store https://www.reasonstudios.com/shop/rack-extension/softube-saturation-knob/ 2) The SSL mixer is more musically designed. It is not particularly sui...
