This might not be part of your issue, but just in case you weren't aware, all of the phrases can be dragged and dropped into the Reason sequencer as MIDI files. That's not the same as using it as a traditional instrument, of course, but I just wanted to put it out there in case you (or anyone else) ...

I will add that there is usually a "May Madness" sale (in addition to Black Friday) where you can usually get a perpetual R12 upgrade license for $99 (or less -- sometimes at jrrshop or thomann).

VST3 to VST2 bridge plugins should work -- like Kushview Element or Bluecat Patchwork.

I love the drag n' drop MIDI on many of their products.

I lost the use of Sigmund 1 when I upgraded to a new Mac with the M1 processor, it's not compatible and never will be I can open a session that contains S1, but if I try to actually use or even view the plugin, it crashes Reason I know it's not ideal, but does it crash if you open Reason in Rosetta...

I was not aware of Synapse Audio offering free VST crossgrades. I have The Legend and Obsession. I emailed them this morning with a screenshot of my owned Synapse Audio REs and within a few hours they sent me serial numbers for the VST versions, no questions asked. Very cool!

One thing I miss most from ReBirth is all the pre-programmed patterns ready to go with a click of the mouse. It made it great for just diving in and making some noise for a few minutes and made it a very fun experience.

The built-in sequencer is nice, and it sounds really great with the Bassline Generator player. If you already have ABL3 or Phoscyon it might not be worth the money, but I like it
