Re: Reason 12 TOMORROW!!!!!!!! Excitement level readings??????
That's it, I'm switching to Cubase after 13 years with Reason. What a lackluster update once again. I love Reason to death but I wouldn't recommend it to anyone starting out. The future isn't looking bright. Need something that I can trust and that puts DAW first.

Re: Delay compensation off in recent updates
That’s something different! It has to do with some plugins needing to “look ahead” of time to work properly. Reason solves this by delaying EVERYTHING accordingly. When you turn delay compensation off, the tracks with delay-inducing effects will appear later than everything else. thanks for the inf...

Re: Delay compensation acting strange in recent updates
I recorded a video. There’s nothing on the master channel and the plug-in introducing delay is FabFilter Pro-L 2 and it’s added to the the NN-XT device. The audio track I’m recording to has nothing added to it.

Re: Delay compensation off in recent updates
yeah I'd like to hear about this from others as well. I remember turning it on and finding everything shifts in ways I don't like. Maybe I don't understand when I am supposed to turn it on and off? How does it work exactly? That’s something different! It has to do with some plugins needing to “look...

Re: Delay compensation off in recent updates
In this case, reading the manual is worth it. It's a surprisingly well written and enlightening chapter! This is in regards to when delay compensation is turned on (as well as the audio buffer). The audio track being recorded used to align correctly no matter the added delay—both from the compensat...

Re: Delay compensation off in recent updates
Oh, I meant off as in acting strange, sorry! Read my post and you’ll understand. I’ve made music full-time in Reason for years and know what everything’s supposed to do  Something’s definitely up. I haven’t had to realign recordings up until when I updated to 11.3.9 yesterday, and suddenly ...

Delay compensation acting strange in recent updates
I recently updated from 11.3.4 to 11.3.9 and suddenly all my vocal recordings started getting misaligned. It seems like both the delay compensation and buffer size affects the placement of audio recordings now, which didn't use to be the case. I've done tests before and concluded that my vocals will...

Re: What would make you consider Reason+ sub?
That they actually start updating the DAW instead of adding new devices like they've been doing the past 10 years.

Re: Reason updates (11.3.7 / 11.3.8) and Reason+
Sad about the state of my favorite application in the whole world. Why does everything have to make more and more profit? Wish things could just exist . I think this is the issue. We aren't just soulless users of an application like Microsoft Excel that's turning into Office 365. This is an applica...

Re: Reason updates (11.3.7 / 11.3.8) and Reason+
I'm not really bothered by the subscription model as a whole. People are upset about the lack of new improvements. Or direction for that matter, with half of what they launch ending up discontinued. It feels like none of the updates the past 4 years has been for us users. I don't want new sound or d...

Re: It's up now on the website: and, yep, a subscription plan
Don't mind a subscription model. All I want is some real updates to the DAW soon--it's been far too long. Improved delay compensation would be great so I don't have to bounce and think twice each time I use heavy plugins and want to automate (as the sequencer alignment will be off). How many years h...

Re: Delay compensation issue
To summarize after new findings Although the delay itself is reported correctly, rhythmic effects such as Synchronous, PanMan or LFO Tool still operate based on the un-delayed sequencer position when placed after delay-inducing plugins or rack devices. Similarly, when using VST plugins, any sort of...

Re: Delay compensation issue
That's not good at all. I make music full-time and rely on Reason to work properly. From now on I'll bounce tracks that introduce a good amount of delay before I automate things or add effects such as PanMan afterwards. It's usually not noticeable when it's say 100 samples--I think RC-20 is around t...

Re: Delay compensation issue
So I tested the same thing with Neptune and Ozone Maximizer using a rhythm effect in the form of Synchronous and mute automations. What's weird is that while Synchronous is timed all wrong when delay has been introduced, automations seem to align properly--unlike my previous examples using VST plugi...

Re: Delay compensation issue
One instance of Pro-L 2 creates 2875 samples delay and it's correctly reported according to the plugin you linked. Again, there's never a problem with the "sound source" even after stacking multiple instances; it always arrives on time, as you can see in the posted videos. However, things like rhyth...

Re: Delay compensation issue
On the mixer you can see total delay comp for each channel. Helps with debugging the situation. There is a pass through VST that creates delay comp but you can also adjust it on the back of the mix channel. And there is a RE that let's you ping the delay time so you know exactly how much to compens...

Re: Delay compensation issue
Just need to point out that I don't normally stack limiters  It's for demonstration purposes! The issue is usually not to this extent, but it's an issue nevertheless. Throw a trance-gate, auto panner or other rhythmic effect after a few plugins using look-ahead and it will be noticeable. With c...

Re: Delay compensation issue
AFAIK the problem comes from the developers of the plugins, because they do not report any or the wrong delay. Often they just forget things to report too, like an fx on a synth. In Reason you may have problems with complex routings, especially with loopbacks and high buffer size. If there were com...

Re: Delay compensation issue
Following here. Ive had The same issue with pitch bends Yes, pitch bends might also be affected. All automation that takes place after the delay is introduced will be off. It's quite annoying because after using Saturn 2 (linear phased turned on), Pro-DS and soothe2 on vocals, there's enough delay ...

Delay compensation issue
I've been using more and more third-party plugins and recently noticed on my vocal tracks that automations don't respond properly. This is also the case with anything related to time, such as Synchronous, PanMan, LFO Tool etc. It's generally not noticeable when it's just a few samples delay, but whe...
