Re: How to create Unison effect in Thor using analog oscillators

Alright, am I the only one curious - why are you working so hard to try to make the old workhorse Thor function like a modern synth? All the "new" stuff, like big unison stacks and MSEGs wasn't yet a thing in 2007. Luckily, for people who like that kind of stuff, Europa DOES have them. Is there some...

Re: realest theramin?

Yeah, a Theremin sound is really just an oscillator that produces something very close to a pure sine wave. I’d look around for a clean sample of one (could even be from a song, if it’s in isolation), and then loop just a few cycles of the waveform. Or you might take a triangle wave, add a small amo...

Re: Download Reason Intro (v11, probably) even if you have the full version?

With reason lite you will still have all your RE's if it's attached to the same license and you will still have all your VST's so in reality you have almost the same as just using Reason 12 Fair point... although I don't run any VSTs in the Reason DAW, and if I run it as RRP I won't have any in the...

Re: Download Reason Intro (v11, probably) even if you have the full version?

There are gasilions of devices in Reason that I never use, limit yourself, you don't need reason to limit you In theory, YES! But time has proven that I end up spending all my time goofing around with new devices and VSTs, rather than making any music. I have PLENTY of sounds I like already (x100),...

Re: Download Reason Intro (v11, probably) even if you have the full version?

So the question is... ... would it authorize with CodeMeter using my full version license? No, Reason Intro needs his own license number. I guess that's not a big surprise. On the other hand, though, I can run old versions of (full) Reason using a new (v11) license with CodeMeter, so maybe it's wor...

Download Reason Intro (v11, probably) even if you have the full version?

Hi all, In my quest for simplifying things, I’m wondering if i might enjoy the limitation of the basic necessities that v11 Intro would offer. This would be used as RRP in a different DAW, so the limitation would mostly be about the included devices. I’m running v12 (full) now, but I have a distinct...

Re: Offline authorization will be discontinued for R11 and earlier - This is serious

There seems to be a (very small) movement of people who are considering setting up a static sealed-off system in preparation of September! This would be a good moment for the RE creators to have a nice big sale! Kind of a last chance opportunity for people to buy a few more REs and authorize their I...

Re: Offline authorization will be discontinued for R11 and earlier - This is serious

Yes, they will forever ask for Codemeter, which after Sep 25th will be gone forever. I've had success in the past using an Ignition Key to let me use all Codemetered versions of Reason prior, regardless of my owning a license for that version or not, something the online authentication doesn't allo...

Re: Offline authorization will be discontinued for R11 and earlier - This is serious

Codemeter is for offline use only. The online login will continue to work (for now). But this only works (I think?) for using versions you've owned in the past, and then upgraded from. I started with v1.0 and upgraded many times, but foolishly sold it. So now I've started fresh with v11 (and upgrad...

Re: Offline authorization will be discontinued for R11 and earlier - This is serious

But for people like myself, who aren’t too worried about going along with the online authorizations, will they implement a replacement for Codemeter for old versions (older than v11)?

Or are those old versions going to forever ask for Codemeter, which will be forever gone?

Re: Offline authorization will be discontinued for R11 and earlier - This is serious

I’m on a Mac, so no issues in that sense. But I’m not sure if I like the “don’t touch anything, you might break it!” feeling of this solution. If I wanted to get a larger hard drive, or if I wanted to change version (maybe go even more retro to, say, v6.5, I’d be in trouble. The kind thing for Reaso...

Re: Offline authorization will be discontinued for R11 and earlier - This is serious

Am I understanding this right: If you want to run an older version, the ONLY way you will be able to do it is by creating a hermetically sealed box NOW, authorized by code meter, and then take the system offline? No way at all, after September 25, to run v11 or earlier? That would be too bad. I'm se...

Does anyone have clarity on this?

Re: Going back to perpetual license.

Oh well, so much for that then. I started with v1.0, and upgraded every so often, but then foolishly sold it a few years ago. Because of that I ended up starting again at v10, so then it seems that that’s as far back as they’ll let me go. Not quite retro enough to bother! You can go back further us...

Re: Going back to perpetual license.

I’m tempted to try the “retro box” thing. I’d probably run Reason 8 - otherwise I’d miss convolution reverbs.

Not sure how to do that though… I’d have to find a downloadable v8, and would my current license even authenticate an old version?

Re: Why is this happening? bug in subtractor?

It’s not terribly uncommon to see synths (subtractor is not one of them) that let you reset the phase of the oscillators at each key press.
If you do that, and you aren’t using any kind of random tuning drift, even detuned oscillators will sound the same with every new note.

Re: Removing fundamental frequency with keytracking filter

If you wanted to remove the fundamental from NN-XT or NN19 (and I'm guessing also Mimic), then all you'll need is to set the filter to notch, key tracking to 100%, and tune the cutoff to the fundamental. I do it pretty often, works great! A fun thing to do when you do that is to put some LFO modulat...

Re: Kudos to Reason Studios

I'm quite fond of the RE Reason Studios created around their RDK sample set. It has a nice interface, with just the right amount of "pretend studio" stuff for my taste. Problem is, I don't think the RDK sample material is very good! It lacks all those big, long, and tedious raw samples needed to bui...

Re: Vocal Align In Reason

A few things come to mind. If you are happy with a quantized take, and want to align other vocals to that take, just quantizing all of them should get them synced up. But that'll only align the transients, not the end of the notes. You could go real old school, and use a noise gate. Stick one on eac...

WIth Redrum it's super quick - simply switch the envelope to gated (the square graph). Leave the decay time on max, the sample only plays for as long as you hold the note, and cuts off right away afterwards.

Re: Heroes by Bowie on reason

I haven't checked any sites, just going by ear here. Listening to it again, I don't think the bass actually plays the riff (DBAD) at all, those are other instruments. The bass stays nearly set on the root, with some walking bass here and there. Quick and dirty (and possibly incorrect) chord transcri...

Re: Heroes by Bowie on reason

Very cool! But I'm severely missing the bass guitar (with a flanger or phaser) enforcing the root throughout the chord changes. Here the bass plays the riff the riff the whole way through, rather than shifting underneath, so it sounds like the chords never change. And the bass disappears completely ...

Not buggy over here, and I can’t recall anyone mention any bugs.
Can you describe a bit more how it sounds on your side? Maybe a clip? That would help us determine if it works as intended, or if there is indeed buggyness.
