Re: CLAP - Open Source Plugin Format
I'm not a programmer at all so forgive me if this is a stupid question, but why not just push and develop the LV2 plug standard instead of creating a new one? I asked this on the Renoise forum a couple weeks ago but the only response was akin to 'because lv2 is not good.' Surely there's more to it t...

Re: Reason VST3 and Linux
Nice one Zebbleganubi! Thanks for all the info, testing and how-to steps.
I use Linux (Debian) and some native software like Renoise and Reaper and Ardour, with no real desire to go back to Reason to be honest, but I do sometimes miss the RS instruments so may try your process one rainy day.

Re: Machine Gun Snare Rolls
One crude, simple and easy approach... Try using the same sample in redrum on 2 channels with slight variations in pitch, and than do a velocity edit like the picture shows. 1 channel has a subtle pitch variation, so it doesn't sound like a machine gun/robot. A real drummer has a change in sound wh...

Re: Are you going to renew?
Na I don't think I'll renew, at least not any time soon. I really liked using Reason over the years, it's a great piece of software and feels good to use. However I switched to Linux earlier this year and use Renoise and Reaper for music and to be honest I'm just happier with that. I still read this...

Re: giving up alcohol
Nice one fullforce (and others here) for giving it up. This is a cool thread. I gave up drinking 1556 days ago and can't even remember what a hangover feels like anymore. I mean, I still have periods of really missing alcohol and craving it and have to readjust my mindset and take things day-by-day ...

Re: Which DAWs do you know very well?
Renoise and Reason.
Reaper too I suppose, that was my primary DAW until 2020. Also have a fair bit of experience with Ardour, Cubase and Logic.
But end of last year I bought Renoise and it stole my heart and I've since become very familiar with it.

Kim Wilde - Never Trust A Stranger With Your Heart. A banging anthem. Change my mind.
Also, ABBA - Mamma Mia is objectively a masterpiece no discussion.
Not sure they qualify as particularly cheesy though...?

Re: Renoise now supports the RRP
What's the main advantages or features that sell Renoise then? If, like me, you have no time to have full blown music seshes, you can just find an old laptop -> slap a lightweight Linux OS on it -> quickly make noise super efficiently anywhere without an interface etc. I can only steal 30 mins here...

Re: Which DAW you're using Reason Rack Plugin in?
Whole reason I upgraded to v11 was to use the RRP in Reaper. Instead I ended up just getting into Reason standalone for a while, was great fun. Then in Dec 2020, I got into Renoise out of necessity mostly and their recent v3.3 release added vst3 support. Which meant RRP is on the menu. Now I'm just ...

I think Reason Lite simply wouldn't let you open that project. Or at least that's what it says on the website.

Re: Is the "Channel EQ" device included in Reason 11 intro
Was curious if the "Channel EQ" device was included in the intro version of Reason 11. I've tried the demo version, and I much prefer it to the MClass Equalizer. As mentioned, it isn't included as a rack device in Reason Lite. However, unless I'm sorely mistaken, the channel EQ will still be there ...

Re: Renoise now supports the RRP
People keep mentioning Renoise to me and, while I'm not in a hurry to switch my environment, I'd love to try it out with Reason at some point. Sounds like a fantastic match. It's fantastic man, well worth messing about with even just as a novelty. For a couple of reasons I'm using it as my main DAW...

Re: Tracker beats
All we need is VST3 support in Renoise and we can have the Rack inside! Looking forward to that for sure. This will be a reality soon, have been alpha'ing / now beta'ing Renoise 3.3 which will support vst3 and Reason rack works great here on it in windows 10. I think there are still some issues on ...

However... I still like reading music magazines: SOS takes you on a journey into making music that all the other (much thinner) magazines fail. It covers a much broader range of subjects. I intentionally read reviews on products I know I'd never buy or have need for - because there are many gems of...

Re: R.I.P. MusicTech magazine
to be fair, those magazines consisted of 60% ads for synths and gear you could never afford. publishers deep in the pockets of the music industry. reviews were ads. they contained some interviews where you could extract exactly zero knowledge from. maybe a tutorial or two on certain production tech...

Re: Reason 11 Suite on a Surface Pro 7 - ASIO Issue
Weird. There should be a little tray icon in the taskbar (after launching Reason I think) that you can right click on and from there tweak the settings and set input/output ports etc. This little Asio4all control panel thing should also be accessible from the Reason audio preferences dialogue...?

Are you using ASIO4ALL? I think the output device might need to be specified or something(???), worth checking the settings via the taskbar tray icon thingy.

Generally aye I'd be fine with making a collection of songs based around just one specific 'sound' or synth or patch(es) or what have you. Having said that though, I studied music and sound engineering for over 6 years full time and at some point early on I had to get my teeth into synthesis and tha...

Re: do you like/use VST plugins in Reason? yes or no
Na I swerve VSTs even though I have hundreds of them from my Reaper days... I just get much better performance and more enjoyment from Reason using only REs, not to mention the REs that I have (11 Suite plus never-ending GAS purchases) are top quality.

Re: Carve EQ - Trackspacer (and/or TDR Nova)
I have Carve and used it in the past and had a few crashes. It lacks features IMO. I dont have experience with Trackspacer. Personally, i would sit back and think about what such tools are doing. The idea is good, but keep in mind, that it's a multiband EQ, which may introduce a lot of phasing, whi...
