+1 to curved automation. I had that back in the Cool Edit days. It's really simple: volume is logarithmic, not linear. Natural fades are curved.

I'd love it if, when I switch into Edit Mode on a clip, that it centers on the entire clip. Right now, I don't even know what it centers itself on.
