Re: Several audio outs simultaneously

You can also use a separate metronome RE (which we developed) if you want more control over which output it goes to: https://www.reasonstudios.com/shop/rack-extension/mt-1-metrotone-metronome/ Great idea. Or if you're on a crazy tight budget you can make your own metronome with Redrum. Sure. I thou...

Re: Several audio outs simultaneously

I believe MacOS can aggregate multiple sound devices into a single virtual device at the cost of a slightly higher CPU load and latency. This link might help: https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT202000 Thanks a lot! That solves the first step. So, in order to move forward -- is there a smart way to d...

Several audio outs simultaneously

Hi, I would like to be able to "monitor", i.e. listen to, sounds that I select, while playing live. In other words, not all the sounds that I chose in the moment might work for the track I am playing, so rather than just hoping for the best (or memorizing all the available instruments) I'd like to b...

Some tools would allow you to do what you want to do muuuuuch simpler.
Or if you feel like it you can just trigger everything with Octo rex & Kong CV.
Cool. Would you care to explain some more?

Rewire should make that much easier.
ReWire would make what easier, more specifically? How would you recommend using ReWire while playing live?

Thanks,

Re: Anyone uses Reason to play live?

Could you please say something more about the different ways to use Reason live? Well you could put everything into a single Reason hour long Song file and play it this way. This way your MIDI controllers stay locked to the same Song and you don't have to worry about opening and closing files and t...

Re: Anyone uses Reason to play live?

1. To play electronic dance music for a live audience -- which means that any audio glitches are unacceptable, basically. This one could be combined with live instruments, e.g. guitar, cello etc, with some live effects. Latency might be an issue if you are running the instrument through Reason, as ...

Re: Anyone uses Reason to play live?

Yes, I do. I perform a DJ like set using two laptops, although I've also done stuff with one. Reason is pretty stable but a lot depends on which devices are in your song and how powerful your PC is. I did my last gig with 10.2 but I've since upgraded to 10.3, which helps to keep the CPU usage manag...

Re: Anyone uses Reason to play live?

You might know this one already, but one thing that improved my Macbook Pro's performance was to turn off 'Automatic Graphics Switching' in the Energy Saver settings in System Preferences. Thanks! I'm still running on High Sierre, and there doesn't seem to be any Automatic Graphics Switching, but I...

Re: Anyone uses Reason to play live?

I think your hardware is the main consideration. If you have a decent laptop and a banging audio interface there shouldn't be a problem. I wouldn't take my shonky rig to a show though no matter what software was on it. My hardware should be good enough, it's a Macbook Pro, 2,2 GHz Intel Core i7, 16...

Anyone uses Reason to play live?

Hi, I was wondering if any of you guys have experience from performing live with Reason. I would like to do that, but I don't feel all comfortable with going out there, because every now and then there will be a lag or something. As opposed to Ableton Live that seems to be running smoothly more or l...

Version used: Reason 10.3. Devices used: Combinator, Europa, Kong, Grain, SubTractor, Thor and many effects. No REs and VSTs. Wow! I wish I could make music like that. Nice melodies and good build ups. The bass drum was...

Re: (Goa/Progressive trance/Experimental trance) Parameters

Collaborating sounds like a plan. I'm sure we can feed off some ideas. This song though has a lot more to offer though. Some more refining to be done on your end. Ideas: Swoosh on buildups and comedowns. Less monotony in kick and bass will help. Layer more effects and synths on top of each other fo...

Re: (Goa/Progressive trance/Experimental trance) Parameters

Nice one, i think the melodies synths and the guitar synth are too loud, louder than the beat/bass. Also the crush is sometimes too loud Intresting melody not bad for the first trance track  :) Thanks a lot Wav-E! I appreciate the positive feedback and the constructive comments. I listen...

Re: (DnB) black sun

Really cool track. Drum n bass is really a great genre. I like that you have these atmospheric ambient sounds going on over the basic dnb. Also the effects on the base makes for an interesting listen. I would probably have added some straight rhythmic element towards the end, as a contrast to all th...

Re: (Goa Trance) Life

This is a great track! Really well produced, and with some original ideas e.g. the melody which is all over the place and the reversed samples. I like it. The voice sample put me off a little bit, as it sounded quite threatening, which was in contrast to the song title 'Life'. But maybe that was the...

Really smooth track. Then it's cool with the unsmooth sound at 1:52 that sort of jumps out and puts the whole 80's vibe in perspective.

Hi, This is really a big step for me, posting this. It it pretty much my first serious attempt at creating goa trance and I would be happy for any feedback. That should be more than capable. Try running Reason in low res mode. There are performance issues running it on retina Macs.
Thanks, I think that helps a bit.
