I uninstalled my Waves freebies because their authorizer seemed to be doubling Reason's startup time.

The only difference is that the RE-2A is a Rack Extension whereas the CA-2A is a VST. They should be running the same DSP from the Cakewalk devs under the hood far as I can tell.

You could try Analog Obsession's free LALA vst. Not sure how it stacks up against the RE-2A as I've never had a chance to use the RE myself.

From what I understand Reason is one of the worst DAWs when it comes to multicore performance, especially when you make use of CV routing with the back of the rack.
