DIVA users, What is the typical CPU load?
Just curious how heavy DIVA is on CPU. I'm debating on getting it during this holiday sale. Its definitely been on my to-buy list for awhile so thinking about pulling the trigger..

Re: Creating a mixing-soundstage inside headphones
Mixing with full professional in-ears, DAC and Headphone Amp has zero challenges, if you're experienced with them. Headphone correction is unnecessary, since your hearing adapts quickly, and "flattens" the sound. That's why it's so easy to adapt mixing either with in-ears, headphones, speakers. Aga...

Re: Question about 44k DI guitar tracks
If you must convert to 48, I would do so on the direct tracks, THEN render all insert FX at 48. This, as opposed to adding the FX at 44.1 then upsampling. This is because the actual FX won't need to be converted and gives you the best idea of exactly what you'll get on export (though any difference...

Question about 44k DI guitar tracks
I think I know the answer but I have some 44k DI guitar tracks and I'm wondering what exactly happens if I'm putting insert efx on them and then export to 48k? Will the insert efx output 48k despite processing a 44k file..? Or does it even matter because I only have a 44k file to begin with..? Thank...

Re: What's Happened To Songwriting
😆 that’s always an awesome clip. one cool thing is that you can play with expectations by being known for complex music and then introducing something really straightforward (or vice versa). some brilliant examples of this are on the album Ire Works by Dillinger Escape Plan (Black Bubblegum comes t...

Re: What's Happened To Songwriting
I think another aspect to pop music nowadays is that it more or less caters to the "party-club scene" .. seems like most of it revolves around repetitious rhythm so bridges aren't as prevalent.. it is all formulaic structure wise.. and intros and choruses are usually just stripped down verses..

Re: What's Happened To Songwriting
I've never been a mainstream music guy but I think alot of it comes down to how short songs are time wise.. you get more money the more songs you can fit into a hour long radio time slot. The 90s had alot of corny mainstream electronic pop dance songs that were 5min+ time wise.. they were very repet...

Re: Sunder Amplitude Splitter - Thoughts?
I really like Sunder and obviously the fun efx options can be alot of fun. But one way I've used it recently is as a gate which really handy considering the visual wave you can see in the device... I was messing around with some old sci-fi movies samples for dialogue parts and these parts had backin...

Re: Could we weaken the "Loudness War" this way?
Isn't that the whole idea about mastering to a reference track though? I think if your were to reference the loudest part of your song to the loudest part of a reference track then you still maintain dynamic range with the quietest parts of your song.. popular "loudness war" mastering really comes d...

Thanks guys! Just downloaded the Ruina so thanks for that suggestion..! The Neural DSP stuff looks really good but that'll be an investment down the road but definitely going to demo some of their stuff.. I still have the Softube AMPs from ver 7 as well.. and of course I'll be messing around with st...

Question for guitarist: what's your favorite REs for guitars?
I'll be mixing some guitar tracks here soon and I'll be getting a track from a mic off the cab and another direct track. So just curious what are some RE recommendations for DI tracks? I'm looking for some nice deep fuzz. I'm shooting for some sludgey stoner Rock type sound and vibe.
Thanks y'all!

Re: Looking for suggestions on what I should charge for music soundbeds for promotional video..
I've known him since highschool so a long ass time lol but have only been Facebook friends since then... I did a little research and this sight called musicbed charges $200 for a sound pack, 1 full song plus its stems and a few other things, so I'm thinking I'll shoot for $250 per sound pack. I've a...

Looking for suggestions on what I should charge for music soundbeds for promotional video..
A old friend hit me up recently asking for some music for some promo videos he does for a fly fishing company. He asked about rates but I'm really not sure what to charge. Anyone have any experience with this as far as rates go?
Thanks guys!

Re: REs that need a bit of love
Another Unfiltered Audio RE that's fun to use is the Sunder Amplitude Splinter. You can get some real interesting effects with it. I've liked to use a reverb on the top split and the Love One Neutron on the middle band.. or even a Fritz on the middle band.. placing the Sunder on a parallel channel i...

You've just been working on it for too long. I'd suggest saving your progress as is and start working a new song for awhile and then come back to that one. All those feelings are very normal.

Re: Approach to creating music: Breadth vs depth
I'll add that the more you finish songs the better you get at finishing them.. I guess it goes without saying practice makes perfect. I've also noticed for myself that the more I do this the easier it is to make good decisive decisions with writing and arrangement.. and with my experience I'm findin...

Re: Approach to creating music: Breadth vs depth
Great topic! I came up with a little a system that has greatly helped me. I called it the A to Z method lol Basically, I went with the idea of 30days in a month and how can I maximize being musically productive in those 30 days. Also I didn't want to get stuck in the loop abyss lol so I wanted to co...

One thing to keep in mind is that the tracks your comparing to in Spotify are mastered as well so they will have a more even heavy low end as virtue of being mastered and I'd imagine what your creating isn't mastered quite yet.. just a guess.. One thing that helped me is trust the instruments more ...

Re: The Ubisoft NFTs Have COMPLETELY FAILED
I see NFTs kinda like sports cards and other collectables... Right now it's gold rush and poor quality NFTs are fetching tons of cash but then again with the gold rush aspect it's kind of a popularity contest right now.. very similar to art and art collectors.. alot of high end art is simply about w...
