Re: Is Europa on par with Serum...or even better?
Yep, it’s the best move you’ll ever make. I’m not saying that Europa is perfect but you’re better off learning one synth inside and out rather than scratching the surface of an assortment. Edit: I’m actually hard-pressed to find fault with Europa so maybe it IS perfect, but I don’t use Serum so I ca...

Re: No paid upgrades to Reason this year
I’m a bit confused by this. Just because they’re not releasing a paid upgrade doesn’t mean that they’re going to be giving out more free updates than usual, it just means that they can “keep the lights on” for 2018 without pushing a full-number update. From the wording, they’re not really promising...

Re: Update Reason in 10.0.3.
Anyone here using an MPK Mini 2? The controller mapping doesn’t do what the Remote file says it should and I’m wondering if I missed something during setup.
Edit: And yes, i set up the Out port properly. Once Reason overwrites the mapping, is there something else I need to do?

Re: Why Reason?
That said I'd never recommend Reason to a new user. The user interface and workflow is initially very confusing and has become neglected by the developers who think its OK to release upgrades that do not improve the core code. Ableton Live is obviously the world's leading DAW, so while I have a dee...

Re: Hyperthreading - on or off?
I don’t have the background to know what I’m talking about, but I was always under the impression that hyperthreading is beneficial in rendering/export functions but doesn't serve much purpose when you are actually using the program. Hence why i7 and better processors tend to be marketed to video ed...

Re: How long does Propellerhead support take to answer?
I completely borked my license (reformatted my hard drive without deauthorizing) a few years back and they sorted it out in less than 48 hours. I’ve heard that their response time varies depending on the issue, though, so you might ask buddy to follow up

Re: Switching DAWs
This might be unpopular, but have you considered switching operating systems? I spent years dealing with Windows updates, dealing with hardware incompatibilities (ASIO has a volatile relationship with some WiFi radios), and dealing with selective USB compatibility. Windows 7 and 8 weren’t exactly ni...

Re: Abelton Live. Suite (Max vs Reason)
I've come at it a bit differently -- I started on a Tascam 788, moved to Reaper for a bit, tried Reason 6.5 and didn't "click" with it, used Ableton extensively for several years, moved to Logic because I got $100 in iTunes gift cards one Christmas (thanks mom), and recently started using Reason 10 ...

Re: Europa & Grain are smh special
This is nit picky but I’m curious if anyone else has noticed it. Open Thor, select Mono Legato mode, set your amp attack and release time to maximum, and hold a note until it reaches full volume. Now, release the note, wait a few seconds, and trigger another. The second note picks up from the same ...

Re: Ableton Live 10
The Logic comparison is valid from a customer’s standpoint — a company’s business structure doesn’t affect me so if they’re able to offer content and functionality at a low price, I’ll take it. Plus, most people use Macs because they want to use Macs so the price difference between a Mac and a compa...

Re: Ableton Live 10
It’s a really solid update, I have to admit. I moved to Ableton Live from Reaper, then played around with Reason 6.5 here and there but mostly stuck with Live 9. I switched to Logic full-time in early 2016 and was initially enamoured, but my output dried up almost completely by the fall. Logic is a ...

Re: POLL: How much would you pay for Mobile Reason? (and what would you like to see/or not see implemented?
I would also settle for MIDI Out from Thor iOS. It’s a really good touchscreen keyboard. You can install the musicIO app, plug in a USB cable from iPad to computer, and have iOS Thor keyboard play Reason stuff. There may be other MIDI transfer apps, but it had a good intro price, so I grabbed it an...

Re: POLL: How much would you pay for Mobile Reason? (and what would you like to see/or not see implemented?
Thor for iPad has an amazing keyboard design so I would love to see a mobile Reason — provided they treated it more like a big collection of instruments than a full-fledged mobile DAW. Give us most of R10’s instruments, a basic sequencer with Figure-style pattern definition, the Thor keyboard, Kong ...

updates to address your own “cutting edge” vision they only focus on their vision but it's not nowhere near "cutting edge"? Yeah, “Cutting Edge” is highly subjective  looks like this kind of loop happens often around these parts - subjectivity seems to be a highly subjective topic ;) I haven’t...

I think it’s worth weighing in on this. I’m not a developer but I work closely with the product managers at a software company. Managing a product roadmap is a balance between updates to address minimum needs and keep up with your industry, updates to address client wants and asks, updates to addre...

I never use it but I also don’t save my presets — I just re-program every device from Init every time. Worse, I start every project completely blank even though I use the same devices over and over.

"There's a topic on Reasontalk how Reason looked in V1and how it looks now in V10 and...you gotta admire the consistency and dedication." I really hope you weren't being serious. To be fair, I’ll take it over Logic Pro “dog’s breakfast” approach. Subtractor looks dated and the whole Rack interface ...

Re: Akai LPLK25 Bluetooth Midi and Reason 10
Sorry I didn’t report back, I’ve been using USB MIDI. I just tested wireless and it’s working fine in both Reason 10.0.2 and Logic Pro 10.4. I think there was a MacOS update last week so it must have been an OS issue. 8gb RAM, Intel i5 dual core, Akai LPK25 Wireless. Try to buy from somewhere with a...

Re: Mixing with headphones
It’s possible so long as you test on other systems and don’t overdo it with stereo panning. I use headphones exclusively and it’s fine, but my mixes are admittedly not great. That’s largely down to me crowding the midrange and letting my reverb stay muddy — they would probably still suck if I had mo...

Re: Akai LPLK25 Bluetooth Midi and Reason 10
For some reason, I get a MIDI overflow whenever I try to record with a Bluetooth keyboard in Reason 10. I can play along with the track no problem but as soon as I hit record it notifies me that my “computer is too slow” regardless of whether I have one track or a dozen. I get the same error when I ...

Re: Is R10 OK on High Sierra?
R10 has been stable on High Sierra for me but I’ve had to keep my buffer higher than I would have expected — 256 frames once I hit ~5 tracks, 512 once I hit ~12 tracks. That’s with Europa and A-List Classic Drummer, which may just be heavy devices, but it still surprised me a bit. I took a long brea...

Right now I just use the trackpad and it’s fine, but back when I was still using Windows I created a profile for the Razer Naga. It took a little getting used to but resulted in a VERY smooth workflow. I mapped the window buttons (f5-f8), the main tool buttons (QWER), and the main transport controls...
