Yeah that sounds workable - I'll give that a try and report back.
EDIT - yes works perfectly. Thanks so much for this.

Re: Recording bass line from Chord Sequencer
The cables are going to the Sequencer Control in the bass instrument itself. Also tried direct to the combinator, still no joy.

Recording bass line from Chord Sequencer
Hi folks. I have Chord Sequencer pumping out a bassline to another instrument in a different combinator, but I can't figure out who to record that. Problem is recording in the player only affects the instrument making the chords, not the bassline instrument. How should I record the bassline? If I hi...

Re: Splitting notes - am I being thick?
You're not being thick. That's the way it works, and I agree it can be annoying. I'm not aware of a key combination or setting to change this. The only qualifier key that seems to make the razor tool work any differently is ALT, which causes the clip to be split into two new clips and leaves the or...

Re: Splitting notes - am I being thick?
The difficulty with splitting an overlapping note is: suppose you could do it, well, then, how is that implemented? Do you, for example, create a new note at the start of the razor edit that has the exact same attack, decay, and all? Or do you try to fudge the note in some way to account for how th...

Splitting notes - am I being thick?
Hi I often need to split one midi clip into two, which is fine but I run into issues when the "intersection" includes a long midi note. The razor tool seems to split the clip into one at the left, which includes the original midi note at its original length (i.e. extending beyond the new clip size) ...

So does that mean you won't be able to use the new drum sequencer at all after May without paying for it?

You can click and drag whilst holding shift and/or ctrl/shift (if you're on windows) to zoom in or out.
Or do you mean the quantize snap setting?

Reason 10 - Why no reviews?
There's one review in MusicTech, but nothing anywhere else. The software has been out since October, so I'm wondering where SoundOnSound's review is (for example). Why is it so quiet? It's not a minor player by any means, so I'm surprised at the radio silence (I.e. loads of places saying "Reason 10 ...

Track and Channel Colours
Am I going mad, or did I read somewhere (no idea where) that the twenty or so "stock" colours available for track colouring in Reason 10 can be increased or changed?
If that's a thing, how can I do it?
If it isn't, why isn't it?

What brought you back?
I dallied with Reason 5 for a short while and - when my PC died about five years ago - other things took over. I never got back into it and there was always something else more pressing. Then I started hosting poker games at my place. At first, they were rough and ready. If you know anything about p...

Re: New here...
Dabbled a little bit with Reason 5 but fell away from it like a jelly coming away from a wall years and years ago, came back to Reason 10. It represents probably the best balance of usability, performance, results and cost I could get my hands on.

Re: Making Music
Oh I don't know about that - someone could spend an hour listening to various degrees of the sustain/damp pedals :P OK now i have to ask, are acoustic piano pedals incremental or "on and off" set ups? I always pushed pedals all the way down when using them but then I learned what little keyboarding...

Re: Drone notes
Live Matrix...You would have to program a combinator button to control the Matrix Pattern button. Turning off the Pattern button will stop the Matrix. That is why setting the number of steps to 1 is optimal, other wise the Matrix will run until the end of the pattern. That may be what you want, IDK...

Re: Drone notes
Many thanks for all the answers, setting the KBD parameter to 0 is the simplest (where an instrument has it, of course). I'm intrigued by the Matrix solution, but I don't think that would work for "live" playing? Now... I guess if I wanted a drone piano (playing say C3) in NN-XT I'd just have to cop...

Re: Question about "Propulsion" polyrhythms
It's tricky when you're trying to compose thoughts on a phone :P Ok so questions were: how would this translate into the track lane? If you used "copy pattern to track" or the equivalent, would the pattern repeat as the longest loop within it (i.e. it would be 16 steps long), or would the kick repea...

Question about "Propulsion" polyrhythms
Hi. I know that propulsion can "do" polyrhythms, in that (for example) you could have kick drum repeating every 16 beats and snare repeating every 15. That's fine when you're running directly from propulsion (like enabling the pattern in redrum and hitting "run"). Question is how would this translat...

Drone notes
Hi. Issue: when I play a chord (or indeed a single key), in addition to that chord I'd like another fixed note to play (say c3), no matter what else I play. I can't see a way of doing this in Reason so if anyone's aware of how to do it, please let me know! I guess it's going to come down to having t...
