Re: ORCA live coding, anyone has experienced it?

Orca is awesome! I've given a few lightning talks about it, but nothing has been recorded.

I would recommend checking out the Allieway Audio tutorial videos if you're keen on learning how it works.

Re: Expert Sleepers ES-8 and Reason

Just curious if anyone using a similar set up (Eurorack oscillators, ES-8 + Silent Way Voice Controller) has managed to or can think of a way to tune two oscillators using the calibration of the silent Way Voice Controller?? To tune the second oscillator means I would lose that tuning of the first ...

Re: Thinking going into modular (thoughts)

Eurorack is not the only modular format out there. If you're strapped for cash I would look into going the AE modular route instead. https://www.tangiblewaves.com/ You can get a complete system for the cost of a eurorack case. Here's a good playlist with plenty of examples of what you can do with th...

Re: Sequences from Robotic Bean

I almost missed this with the flood of Superbooth news :)

I'm looking forward to trying this out tonight!

One thing I've been missing that I hope this solves is the ability to create generative note sequences based off of chord progressions.

Re: Got Eurorack? Show your Modular Grid!

I'm still looking for a solution for CV control from Reason. I was looking at the Hexinverter Mutant Brain. Also the Expert Sleepers ES-8. Massive price difference in those two modules & each has it's advantages & disadvantages. I'm hearing that MIDI to CV conversion is not so good in some circumst...

Lectric Panda’s PSQ has a shift register sequencer. Yeah i know. And i have a deep feeling that you can peel a Turing Machine out of it. Cant say i didnt try lol. But in the end i ddint have success getting what i wanted. Have you tried using the PSQ shift register sequencer in Klee mode? From the ...

Re: Got Eurorack? Show your Modular Grid!

I've been sequencing from either Reason or Reaktor routed through the ES-8. This also allows the audio to be in separate channels with their own effects. I also have a Pittsburgh Modular Lifeforms SV-1 that is stand-alone until I get a larger case. The Orthogonal Devices ER-301 and Monome Teletype b...

Re: Would Complex-1 be a good way to learn about synths / synthesis?

Any advice on where to get this spectrum analyzer and oscilloscope thing? Does it come with Reason? What ScuzzyEye said on the spectrum analyzer. Europa already includes oscilloscopes in the UI to let you see what the waveforms are doing and how envelopes and LFOs are affecting things which is why ...

Re: Would Complex-1 be a good way to learn about synths / synthesis?

For me the most essential tools for learning synthesis are tools that let you see what your audio and CVs are doing. When I'm trying to figure out what sound is doing I try to have a spectrum analyzer open along with an oscilloscope. Europa is probably the best free (since you already own Reason) wa...

Re: Arturia MicroFreak

Please, tell me there is a MIDI protocol for JUST a 1/8 to 1/8 cable. Or, do I still need the DIN MIDI in the middle? Arturia, Novation, 1010music, Pittsburgh Modular, and a few others use the Type B 1/8 midi format so you can get away with connecting their 1/8 mid jacks without converting back to ...

Re: Logic gates & Probability CV generation with stock/free devices

That was a fun puzzle :) I managed to get a fairly flexible probability gate that you can get as granular as a 1/128 chance of triggering. The devices you'll need are: Pulsar, CVA-7, Combinator, Subtractor (or any instrument), CV Player Tap Create a Pulsar device. Set LFO1 waveform to random and lev...

Re: How are people using scales and chords?

The scales and chords player is really useful for making generative music if you want to keep everything in the same scale. CV Player Tap is great for sending notes from player devices to different places. I can have a single note going into scales and chords for one device that goes into the dual a...

Last year I spent a ton on REs. This Black Friday sale I only picked up the Noise Engineering Synth Bundle 2 mainly because my music budget has shifted to hardware. Stay away from modular synths if you know you have an addictive personality. The GAS is real.

Re: How do I force Players to treat input as monophonic?

You can do this with note echo instead with 1 note repeat and pitch up 12 semitones at 1/8 speed. This will give you a single C2-C3, D#2-D#3. If you need to repeat these more than once you can use another instance of note echo with note repeat without pitch change and speed set to 1/4 speed going in...
