How to hook up "LANDR Mastering Plugin"
I was thinking of purchasing the LANDR Mastering Plugin: https://www.landr.com/plugins/mastering-plugin There is no demo version. I have a bazillion VST2/3 instruments and effects, and I know exactly where to drag those to use them (they automatically connect the wires, etc). But I'm not sure where ...

Re: Drum/Bass sidechaining question
If you simply want to duck one VST under another one, and you don't need to use separate elements from the source (such as using just the kick out of a whole kit), then simply patch in the usual way, using the Parallel Out from the Mix Channel of the source to the Sidechain Input on the destination...

Re: Drum/Bass sidechaining question
On the back of the VST Shell in Reason, the illuminated OPTIONAL AUDIO OUTS simply show you the extra outs that Reason recognizes as being possible in the VST, not necessarily that they're in use. For each VST, you have to figure out how to route individual drum sounds to the separate outputs. Ever...

Re: File > Bounce Mixer Channels question
Cool, thank you both for the advice!
It's only 4 or 5 tracks out of around 20 that use FX1, so I think in this case I'll just create a new reverb instance for each track and tweak as needed. Agreed about asking the person doing the mixing/mastering first.
Thanks again!

File > Bounce Mixer Channels question
Howdy. I'm trying to export stems to provide to someone who is going to do mixing/mastering for me. But when I export all the channels to AIFs they are all dry (no reverb from Send 1 in the main mixer) if I check FX 1 in the Bounce Mixer Channels dialog box it just contains the reverb from all the c...

Drum/Bass sidechaining question
I watched this excellent tutorial on how to use sidechaining with drums and bass: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JBpj6ppR2Q0 It shows how to use the Aux 1 out on the Kong drum module in to the sidechain port of an M-Class Compressor added to a bass source. I tried this myself (Kong sidechained to B...

...the manual is a great resource collection of many useful tips to get the most out of Reason. Agreed. The challenge for me is not knowing what to look for in the manual by name. Thankfully, I was able to describe what I was looking to do and you were able to guide me so that I could find it in th...

Re: Exporting to fewer stems
It's simple: Create mix bus channels for your groups. The manual has a chapter on this. Hah hah. i didn't even know there WAS a manual. Thanks for the tip (I would have had no idea what to search for in the manual) I found the manual here: https://a.phcdn.se/Reason12/Manuals/Reason_125_Operation_Ma...

Exporting to fewer stems
Howdy. I'm using Reason 12 (latest version). For a project, I need to export my tracks as stems. I figured out how to do that, but my songs have, like, 25 files on export (one for each track). I need to get it down to a more reasonable number, (like ten or less). Is there a way to group tracks so th...

Re: Looking for guitar VST that has that "80s synthwave" sound.
Thanks for the suggestions so far. Yeah, I realize the example I linked to probably isn't a guitar, or it's at least layered with a guitar... I probably should have picked a different example. But it's still pretty close to the other examples I'm thinking of and those definitely sound like a real gu...

Looking for guitar VST that has that "80s synthwave" sound.
Title says it all. If I had to share an example, skip to 0:40 seconds of the type of guitar sound I'm looking for. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=URma_gu1aNE Not looking for loops, looking for an instrument that I can play and compose guitar solos with. I know there are a bunch of guitar VSTs out t...

Re: Help understanding sidechaining workflow
I personally use pump its easier to setup you can use the effect how you like it's easier to visualise and control. https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=EKT5hROzcNE&feature=emb_title That's neat. I guess it's faking it by running that Pump pattern? I imagine that really only works with four on the floor o...

Re: Help understanding sidechaining workflow
What can be more visual than having cables? i guess what I mean is, having the equivalent of an org chart where you see everything that's plugged into the mixer and can drag and drop priorities and seeing them all on one screen at a glance (rather than having to view a rat's nest on the back of the...

Help understanding sidechaining workflow
Howdy. I'm trying to wrap my head around sidechaining to help make mixes less muddy and less clippy. As I understand it (from the few videos I've watched), you want to plug kick drum into bass, so the bass gets muted while the kick is playing. But what's the strategy when you have, for example, a ki...

Re: Cherry Audio - DCO-106 Polyphonic Synth VST
Step by step: 1. Create DCO-106 VST 2. Right click on the DCO-106 VST rack device (NOT the DCO-106 itself!) 3. Select "Combine" from the menu. You should now have the DCO-106 inside of a Combinator. 4. Click on the "Show Programmer" button on the combinator. You will now see the "Key Mapping" and "...

Re: Cherry Audio - DCO-106 Polyphonic Synth VST
I bought this plug-in this morning, sounds really great. Couple questions, though... 1) In the arpeggio section, there is a "sync" button. Is this supposed to match the tempo in Reason? If so, it doesn't sync up for me. 2) I can't figure out how to automate DCO-106's sliders and stuff in Reason. I ...

Re: Roland Lifetime Key
Yeah the Mac versions only support VST3 which Reason currently does not... there are a few work arounds Nektarine being one of them (I have used it on the D-50 and it works week). What is Reason Rack? This here says Reason Rack supports V3 but Reason 11 standalone only supports V2. https://help.rea...

Re: Question re: Native Instruments/Native Access/Kontakt and automation
Many VSTs that host plugins need an intermediate layer for automation. Basically your assign the plugin parameter to a macro and then automate the macro. I gotta ask about your avatar... is that an Atari? I looks like the Atari 1040 ST that I first started recording MIDI songs on (I still have it i...

Re: Question re: Native Instruments/Native Access/Kontakt and automation
Yey, that's how VSTs are, they are just not that integrated. You have a button in the VST host window in the top area for automation. Kontakt can be a bit fiddly with automation, but you can do it. Pop open the full large-window view (with the browser on the left and whatnot) and then look for the ...

Question re: Native Instruments/Native Access/Kontakt and automation
Howdy. I just purchased my first synth by Native Instruments (called "Analog Dreams"). I didn't realize what a chore it would be to have to set up Native Access and use the VST through Kontakt Player. Anyway, my question is related to how integrated these things are into Reason. For example, I can't...

(synthwave) "I can see you"
Not sure what initially inspired me to do the creepy/weird intro. I admittedly had a much fun assembling the video as I did the song. My goal with the song and video was to tell a story, but that story would hopefully be different for each viewer -- maybe even creating a bit of unease. https://www.y...
