Re: Do Propellerhead (RS) owe their loyal customers anything?

They don’t owe us. We entered into a voluntary transaction because we wanted their software more than we wanted our money. They sold it because they wanted our money more than they wanted their time. Of course, a business has a financial incentive to pursue customer satisfaction and create an illusi...

Secret ReasonTalk preview! Snuck in some updates on the mixer devices, including Dry/Wet for the Dynamics and Compressor and some updated labelling. Thanks for the feedback! :)

Re: Announcing Reason 11

You guys, that's a very poetic way to describe a phenomenon that's way too common on the internet: gatekeeping. Preserving the pecking order and the status quo. We've seen that behavior in regards to Players "It's just too easy to make music this way". You see it everyday in synth forums "Behringer...

You forgot an option. d: a blind and deaf hegemony of User 2's ego that gleefully stomps around rejoicing with intoxication over hearing its own bellowing voice, echoing endlessly within a shrinking enclave of increasingly esoteric and fruitless knowledge. User 1 risks this empire of self appointed...

Re: Announcing Reason 11

I’m sure it’s going to seem like I’m oversimplifying the issue, but maybe this will be useful. Here's what I see happening: User 1 posts a request in the Feature Suggestion forum because he wants his call for improvement to be heard by the devs clearly and urgently, and he also wants other like-mind...

Re: Help!!! Jazz

Since your background is jazz, you probably know how many sub-genres there are. I'd suggest really narrowing it down to a specific era to draw some inspiration. 30s: early standards like Louis Armstrong, Count Basie, Fats Waller 40s: big-band swing stuff like Duke Ellington, Charlie Parker, Benny Go...

Re: Be honest: What were you 100% sure would be in V11 but didn't make the cut?

This is a weird question. It's weird because I don't honestly believe that any meaningful change will happen because so little of it does. Worse than that, I have no reason to believe anyone working on this program has the training required to write the changes people want or need. It's almost like...

I thought for sure we would get high res graphics, track folders and Combinator 2.

Re: Do you miss Allihoopa? Alternatives?

I miss being able to bounce a mixdown direct to the web from within Reason. It would be nice if they added SoundCloud or YouTube authoring going forward. Most video-editing software already does this for YouTube.

Re: Predicting 4 future moves of Reason Studios

I think Kontakt is way too far along for any competitor, let alone Reason, to catch up with a new sampler format. If the devs want to compete with Native Instruments, they’re probably best playing to their strengths in synths and effects.

These are great ideas! Why not have the option? Some seriously mad scientist stuff would be possible with everything modulated at audio rate. Too much CPU hit, drop it back down to default.

Re: Auto-Crossfading Uses?

Could have creative uses. We have a ton of super long FX samples in the FSB. Now that we have crossfading we can mix and match samples to create new textures. Then we can bounce the whole thing and throw it into Grain for more loveliness.

Highlighted MIDI notes + all the RE’s in Suite. I never bought any of them because they seemed overpriced so that’s gonna be pretty cool to get a ton of stuff dirt cheap.

Spectrum analyzer should be available from any device. Select a device, press a hotkey, get an analyzer tap on the main output. If a stock EQ device has focus, the parameters can be edited on the display. This could even extend to dynamics devices. For those, a oscilloscope would appear and show th...

A roadmap would really be appreciated. The blog could serve this purpose and would create way more user engagement than its current use. Maybe the rebranding will change the PR culture over there.

Re: [Poll] Propellerhead is now Reason Studios. Do you like the change?

If the DAW became “Reason Studio,” and the developers simply signed off as the Reason Studio team, I could see it. The way it is now, though? Dumpster fire. And the brand names have been pluralized for a while. A ton of hip-hop guys have been calling it “Reasons” for years. Like the Earth, Wind & Fi...

Re: WHY are you thinking of changing DAW? (if you are)

Reason gets too messy with large projects. I don’t need to see racks and screws and cables and *every, single* mixer channel and automation lane. I’d be happy if this stuff could be hidden behind the scenes. Bitwig handles this problem with a really clean modern, minimal interface which I find reall...

Not excited for 11’s new features; they seem like pretty minor improvements. However the RE’s that come with Suite peak my interest a little. I never bought any of them so it’s a no-brainer to get all that stuff!

Little LFO by Little IO offers unipolar LFO. I believe it actually generates a wave from true zero. So I can scale the wave’s amplitude and the “floor” is fixed at zero.
