Re: Extremely long export times

Hey Protostar Check if You have turn on the Intel Turbo Boost Max 3.0. In my case that service sometimes suspends the bouncing process. Reason 9.5 i7 7820x win10 It usually starts up with Windows yeah, ill disable that and see if it fixes it all! Cheers for the tip mate Edit: This seems to have pot...

Re: Extremely long export times

You say that it only happens after you've had the project open for a while. Is this you just leaving it open and not using the software, or adding RE, VST, etc? I've got a 32t/16 core machine and I get better results all around in performance and export times with hyper threading turned off in the ...

Re: Extremely long export times

I think you're probably talking about a different issue, but I certainly noticed going from v6.5 to 9.5/10 that exporting took almost twice as long. These later versions seem to do more calculations/initialising before the actual export (maybe it has to do with the new delay compensation or somethi...

Extremely long export times

Hey all. Recently i upgraded to an i9 7900X CPU from an i7 6700K, and it has done wonders for me so far in regards to CPU headroom, but ive noticed one issue. Sometimes when exporting/bouncing a song, its excruciatingly slow. When i do a restart and even let the machine run for a while, then open my...

Re: Reason & FL Studio - cross platform performance benchmark

I appreciate this thread and the time the OP's put into making the benchmark song file. I've experienced similar results with Studio One 3.5.x and Reason 10.x, so every bit of information helps. Point Props to this thread and maybe they can use the data. I already sent it directly to them, so hopef...

Re: Reason & FL Studio - cross platform performance benchmark

I'm more of an FL fan boy but I think you need to give Props some time in improving VST support. I went through this ride when Cakewalk was DX only and went to VST in Sonar 2 via a wrapper. A lot of VSTs would not work in Sonar back then. Eventually Reaper came out and had superior VST support. I u...

They make a good point. So drop Reason for vst support and use a second daw for that, Dibs on Reaper then as vst host
Not really what we are saying :)

Re: Reason & FL Studio - cross platform performance benchmark

Awesome data. Very much appreciated that you shared it. I have a feeling that 10.5 will hopefully be a big “engine update”. I went through the same thing with sonar before it had an engine rewrite. I’m hoping that the reason 10.0 was content only is because maybe they’re working hard on a rehaul, a...

Re: Reason & FL Studio - cross platform performance benchmark

Heya Protostar, I appreciate the work you put into this - I know it took a ton of time and effort, and might translate better for other users who aren't as aware of Propellerheads history or anticipate where they're headed. I know I wouldn't have bothered because Propellerhead all but ignores Reaso...

Re: Reason & FL Studio - cross platform performance benchmark

Well, not really big news. Reason is to slow compared to other DAWs. Feel free to ask PH about an improvement. Better to see that fixed in the next version instead a more and more content delivery. The always anyoing scanning of VSTs also happens on my side. I contacted the support and they said, t...

Re: Reason & FL Studio - cross platform performance benchmark

Hey, so i helped with making the original benchmark file (with some automations borrowed from this lovely vanilla benchmark ), i wanted to make a semi-realistic FX chain that i would usually use in a project, and then obviously we duplicated it all over and over to simulate an extreme workload. Here...

Been considering making a cross DAW VST benchmark to compare Reason vs Fl Studio etc in VST performance too, will post if i end up making it! I'd really love to see this. Me and a friend have made it, and the results are quite saddening haha. Posting soon, ill link thread here when its up :) Edit: ...

Re: Reason 9.5 & above CPU Stress Tests (2017, two different songfiles included)!

My friend didn't tell me he was only running 1 stick of 16gb ddr4, so its only running single channel memory atm. Made him order 2 new sticks to run in dual channel config for double bandwidth, so will update with those results. Yikes... talk about a overarching bottleneck for a new system! Yup, wi...

Re: Reason 9.5 & above CPU Stress Tests (2017, two different songfiles included)!

As I mentioned I haven't even begun optimizing my system software or hardware - just raw choice components at the moment vanilla everything. Either he has HT off or there's something wrong with his hardware setup. Have him run the benchmark software on http://www.userbenchmark.com/ so he can see wh...

Re: Reason 9.5 & above CPU Stress Tests (2017, two different songfiles included)!

Bear in mind you wont get the same results as him unless you have the soundcard to back it up :) Friend of mine has the 8700k and can only get around 25 secs in the benchmark, not 50 I get 50 with an i9 and a shitty soundcard, so yeah you might not get same performance unless you have a really nice...

Re: Reason 9.5 & above CPU Stress Tests (2017, two different songfiles included)!

So i have a few results to show. Before today i was running an i7 6700K @ 4.5GHz (4 core 8 thread), with an Asus maximus viii Hero & 16gb of 3000MHz DDR4. Also i am using a Focusrite Scarlett 2i4 on both configs, at 44.1k and 884 samples, looking to swap the interface out for something better soon t...

British! Spent 4 years there in the AirForce, wife is from there little town outside Bicester. The reasons I love the 1616m is the genuinely clean pres, crazy low snr, and Ethernet EDI interface to the PCIe card for minimal RTL. Re: Intel 7820X & Reason?

The Audio Interface was one of the other requirements -- build a DAW without specifically needing a PCIe slot for the 1616m. Man nothing beat the 1616m for the 10+ years I've had them, still one of the best interfaces out there today, I have 3 of them! I used it specifically for the RTL and pres, a...

RAM won't be a bottleneck nor a significant consideration unless you're running major sample-based instruments. Intel 7820X & Reason?

Hey guys, I'm currently looking to upgrade my current 6700k system to a newer generation and a chip with more cores. The 6700k has been great but struggles under some more complex projects often. I had a look at this thread and it looks like the 8700k is actually a decent choice, beign that its a 6 ...
